Your Child's Teeth

At birth, most children have 20 primary (baby) teeth, which usually begin to erupt between 6 to 8 months of age.  The remainder of their 20 primary or "baby" teeth typically erupt by 3 years of age.  During this time, gums may feel tender and sore, causing your child to feel irritable. To help alleviate this discomfort, we recommend that you soothe the gums by using a teething ring or rubbing a wet cloth across them.

Your child's primary teeth usually begin to exfoliate (come out) between 6 and 12 years of age.  By age 21, all 32 of the permanent teeth (including 4 wisdom teeth) usually have erupted.
